I began my career as a biologist and teacher; then spent two years volunteering in Africa, and another year travelling overseas. For the past 25 years, I have lived and worked in Central Vancouver Island, providing counselling services and helping people to create healthier futures. I have successfully helped people living with all types of illness and injury, as well as those whose life circumstances have led to stress, anxiety, depression and a desire for change.
I completed a Master in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, post-graduate studies with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#7098) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
I believe that everyone has the ability to make positive changes in their lives. As a counsellor, my job is to act as a catalyst: speeding up this natural process and helping you to get in touch with your own wisdom and solutions.
In addition to one-on-one services, I offer an online video library that explores anxiety, depression and post-trauma, and can help you clarify boundaries and build resilience.
I have specialized experience and training in:
- Easing depression and anxiety
- Healing from traumatic events
- Building healthy relationships
- Challenging eating disorders
- Living with chronic health conditions
- Increasing stress resilience
- Recovering from grief and loss
- Navigating career and life transitions
